The KDE Community

The KDE community has already spent 20 years defending software freedom and open source. For two decades we have proven our skill and dedication in providing the best and safest solution to professionals, casual users and hobbyists alike. For 1040 weeks we've talked, argued, worked and improved the code, the usability and aesthetics of applications, frameworks and desktop environment. We've worked around the clock, in every timezone, around the world, for 7300 days to strive for more privacy for our users, where the control over what and how you use the software on your machine is handed over to you.

And we're far from done.

The KDE Slimbook

We were not content with the quality of laptops available on the market. The majority shipped with proprietary and locked-in software solutions, filled with not-uninstallable bloat where the user was left at the mercy of whatever the company selling them a laptop saw fit for them to work with. As creators and makers we knew what it meant to be locked into a set of solutions defined by others. Many alternatives took whatever hardware they could find when they wanted to provide more free options and the end result was often lackluster and as such, lowering the enjoyment in using the computer, our main tool in creating, and shipping with underwhelming specs.

We saw a problem, and we solved it: The KDE Slimbook.

A Solution for us All

With the KDE Slimbook the KDE Community, in cooperation with Slimbook, takes a new leap in providing us all - users and creators alike - with a safe, private and productive experience. We combined the productive environment of Plasma, KDE applications, the technological advances in KDE Frameworks and the agile pace of KDE software releases with the Slimbook hardware in a unique cooperation to bring you the KDE Slimbook. We didn't make it just for you - we made it for us. A laptop that we, as creators and makers, lacked. A machine that ships with us in mind. Private from the first boot, secure for all users and where productivity is its main focus. A machine for creators.

A laptop by and for the KDE Community.
